MAN REUNITED WITH DOG AFTER 10 YEARS - “She heard my voice. I walked up to her and she kind of gave me a couple of licks or kisses. And I was like, ‘She knows who I am, she remembers my voice…”

A 13-year-old Basset Hound named Ginger was reunited with her former owner, Jamie Carpentier, after a ten-year separation. Ginger was taken by Carpentier’s ex-wife after they divorced. Subsequently, the ex-wife gave up Ginger to a shelter without his knowledge. Amazingly, Carpentier stumbled upon Ginger’s profile online and learned she was up for adoption at the Humane Society for Greater Nashua in New Hampshire. Here’s more from the Nashua Telegraph:

Jamie Carpentier had never gone to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua’s website. But late one recent night, the Nashua resident felt the urge to log on and peruse the animals up for adoption.

He came across a 13-year-old basset hound named Ginger, without a photo attached, and read the write up on her…Three times they thought they had a home for Ginger, and three times it fell through.

“It’s just amazing because we thought they were both pretty definite,” Schuyler said about two of Ginger’s potential homes. “It was kind of an emotional roller coaster. … She’s clearly thriving but she’s kind of an older dog and we wanted to get her into her forever home. The hours that Kerry put in screening potential families that fell through, that was tough.”

Then came Carpentier. He emailed Hildebrand asking her to send him a picture of the dog.

“When I saw the picture, because I had the other (puppy) pictures, I said, ‘That’s her. That’s her. This is going to kill me,’” he said.

"There’s no such thing as being “mostly vegan” or saying you “used to be vegan.” Veganism is an ethical mindset- not a diet. You don’t become vegan because you want to lose weight, want to be healthier, or just really like carrots. You become vegan because you believe and know that torturing and killing individuals for unnecessary and selfish reasons is wrong. To say you “used to be vegan” but now eat meat or dairy/eggs once in a while is no different than saying you “used to think rape is wrong” but now you think raping someone every now and then is okay."
