Personally I find it reassuring that the milk industry feels alternative milk options are such a threat they need to make a campaign against it. “Many imitations, still no equal”, they’re right there is no equal. There are better, healthier, tastier, and best of all cruelty-free options. Alternative milk options are a viable and visible option, and the milk industry knows that. addendum to my previous post on how i heart pigs:
last week i was at the podiatrist to treat an ingrown toenail (grumble grumble). i brought along the above book, which i’m currently reading. i read the book while i waited for the lidocaine to take effect (side note: needle + big toe = ouch), and then the podiatrist came in to fix my poor toe. while he was working, i glanced over at the wall and saw an old-timey picture of a hotdog advertisement. hotdogs as wall art. hmm. i casually mentioned how it was an interesting choice of decoration, and the doctor looked up and said, “yeah. i like hotdogs.” like it was perfectly normal to decorate his office with pictures of meat, no big thing. i glanced down at the book in my lap, at the adorable pig, and thought about talking to him about the meat industry and veganism, but kept my mouth shut (he was using sharp tools on my toe).
